A spring born baby
though nature causes sickness
mother’s love heals all.
A subtle magpie surrounded by eagles.
perched high enough to see an ocean
the world below hurts its neck to view its beauty
while the quiet magpie is to high to see its reflection.
Perched high enough to see an ocean
on the ground someone looking to find beauty
while the quiet magpie is to high to see its reflection
calling out to a creature that soars above the earth.
On the ground someone looking to find beauty
the humble magpie hovers down to the earth walker.
Calling out to a creature that soars above the earth
two worlds joined by juvenile curiosity.
The humble magpie hovers down to the earth walker
one escapes from his mouth
two worlds joined by juvenile curiosity;
Beautiful, escapes his lips as he stares in her eyes.
One word escapes from his mouth
a shy magpie, she flies from his compliment;
Beautiful escapes his lips as he stares in her eyes.
Trapped without wings, he regrets nothing, as she flies away.
A shy magpie, she flies from his compliment
the world below hurts its neck to view its beauty.
Trapped without wings, he regrets nothing as she flies away
a subtle magpie surrounded by eagles.
This is just going to be a quick post, a place filler of sorts. My classes for college started on the 9th of this month. Which means that I have been here for three whole weeks. I arrived on the friday before classes started, just in case you want to look at a calender and check my math. I am not really in the best of mental states (at the moment of typing this) and mainly overall but in this moment it is really worse. I haven’t felt that lonely feeling in a group for a long time. Trust and believe when I am alone of course I feel alone in the world. Just a raindrop on the windshield of life, the windshield which is attached to at least two tons of solid man made destruction. But to be in college surrounded by so many strangers at once is just….overwhelming. My classes are fine, thanks for asking. But almost every waking moment I have outside of the cube called a “classroom” is akin to a waking hell. I go to a counselor on campus in the counseling center, go figure. And she is in training. But I really don’t care if she is a professional or not. If information is leaked legally charges can be pressed regardless, but that isn’t the point. I am going to the counselor on campus more often then I went to my therapist back in the real world, and a part of me is constantly yearning to be back in that seat, sitting, talking, purging. It is a that is something that I can only assume is pure contentment with oneself. I assume this because when I actually think about what that even means I am pretty sure that most people do not even think about how content they are with who they are as a person. They have other worries about themselves and being content with what you have in front of the mirror as far as mentally is the least of their problems, I would think. Is it bad if I want to become famous before I turn twenty-seven. So that when I finally do turn twenty-seven I can die? I don’t know. Probably. I am thinking about printing this post off and taking it with me to my counseling session on wednesday of next week. We shall see, won’t we Ms. Hammonds. Either way I am not even sure what I am doing right now. It is early saturday morning, and I am sitting in my dorm room typing this post, alone. But there are other people around me. I can hear them. Through the walls, down the hall, under my feet, above my head. Everywhere. But even on this windshield, there are countless drops of water around me, but they continue to fall down the glass, to merge together with other drops and become bigger…they continue their journey from the sky and though hit on a man made object which nature never expected, they keep moving down that car, hoping to fall off the door and onto the grass by the road, to give back to nature.
I am Iwan. As I close one door I walk through it at the same time.
I am truly at the end of a period in my life. I had my last session with my therapist today, I won’t be seeing him for a long time. I don’t know if I will ever see him again ever, and I don’t know why but I am really sad about that. I think we were actually bonding as two people. Which is pretty weird because I do not think that you are supposed to be getting attached to your therapist, or to your patient. I knew that this would be the last visit to him in a long time so I had already made it up in my mind that I was going to give that man a hug at the end of a session, but he surprised me when he handed me a Christmas present. I never expected him to ever do something like that. It made me almost start crying in there to be honest, I had just so many emotions flowing through me at that point that I honestly didn’t know how to feel. When I opened it at home I was pleasantly surprised that it was not only a new book that he had actually purchased ( I thought he may have taken one off his shelf in the office ) but he had also written a nice little letter and stuck it inside the book. This is what he said.
Julius,
A small gift for you. You seem to be interested in books, at least in the office. So I thought you might find this collection of Platonic dialogues interesting. Socrates stands out among all other thinkers as truly an original. Many of the subjects written about in these dialogues still have great relevance today. It has been a pleasure to work with you, to see you grow inwardly. Best wishes to you in college.
——–To your success !
Aside from leaving off his name when he signed it I typed what he wrote in the letter verbatim. I truly feel like now I am at the end of a period in my life, and everything I do now is the next chapter in my life. I am going to study japanese in college and in the meantime continue to blog, read, and just expand my mind in positive and creative ways to stay the person I am. I do not plan to change how I am for anyone. By the way just in case I did not already mention what book he gave me it was “Five Dialogues” by Plato. I see this as a nice piece of literature I can always crack open to gain some insight on the world around me even if the advice is from hundreds of years ago. Also I know it is random to the topic of this blog but I just want to say that I really appreciate the friends that I have in my life right now and very specific ones ones I already hold close to my heart and love, but also some friends that I have know for a few years are starting to become those life long friends also. But until then the friends I can say that I truly love are Dane and Devin. Those two guys have been so great to me over the years no matter how shitty of a friend I have probably been to them, especially Devin. I could never work up the courage to apologize to you for all the shit I have done to you over the years. I always acted like the so called “alpha male” of us two when really you were always the leader. I always respected what you had to say no matter how stupidly I may have knocked down your ideas I truly do support you in your life. And Dane, I am excited to finally start my journey in college with you, even if this first semester we will only be suite mates, in the upcoming years I will love to be your roommate and maybe one day I will be able to explain to my kids how me and their uncle Dane both conquered UNC Charlotte together.
Man getting to Fortree City was a journey and a half. But some good things did happen on the way. My Trapinch evolved into a Vibrava, and Marshtomp evolved into a Swampert. I also met Steven again, he was the nice guy from that cave on Dewford Island. This time he gave me some kind of scope so that I would be able to see Kecleon, this chameleon like pokemon that you won’t be able to see when it is camouflaged. Good thing he gave it to me, because there were a few Kecleon blocking my way into the Fortree City gym. But before I even got to Fortree City I saw those Team Aqua jerks again. They were trying to take over this weather observatory and even steal a pokemon. I couldn’t let them do that so I beat them all in a battle and forced them out with Hariyama. The scientist at the observatory was so thankful he figured he should leave the pokemon they were trying to steal in my hands because he would be more safe with me, it was a Castform. I had never seen a pokemon like that before but then again there are a lot of pokemon that I am sure I have never seen before. Anyway it is time to go into the Fortree City Gym, I heard the leader Winona uses flying type pokemon. Which means her trainers will also, so I won’t be using Hariyama in this fight. On my way to Winona I use all of my pokemon so far to see which is best against flying foes. Upon reaching Winona I decide upon using my Lairon to face her because he took hits the best from the flying pokemon in the battles leading up to Winona. Winona looks very eccentric, she looks kinda like a cross between a bird and a fighter pilot, but I don’t have time to be distracted by her weird outfit. She sends out a Swablu and of course I send out Lairon. A single Iron Tail sends Swablu spiraling down to the ground. Next she sends out an Altaria which I assume is an evolved Swablu. Her Altaria hits Lairon with an Earthquake attack which I feared would be to much for Lairon, but I was right in knowing Lairon was the perfect pokemon for the job, he takes the hit like a champ and sends Altaria to the nearest Pokemon Center with a brutal Take-Down attack. Winona however gets wise to how awesome Lairon is and sends out a Pelipper, so I decide to send out Swalot. This is were the battle gets annoying. All she has her Pelipper do is use Protect and me in the meantime, I am trying to poison Pelipper so that even if I do not hit it because of Protect it will still get weaker and then faint. Luckily one of her Protects doesn’t fully work and my plan gets set, her Pelipper is poisoned and I can feel free to just hit it with Sludge now. Her Pelipper goes down after a massive Sludge attack, with little damage done on Swalot. But her next pokemon is a Skarmory, I don’t have any fire type moves so this will be one of the most difficult battles I have ever had. I decide to send Lairon since he is also a steel type so hopefully they will be able to just take each other down no matter how long it takes. Fortunately that plan however desperate it was actually ended up working. Her last pokemon is a Tropius, which I know is going to be a peace of cake so I decide to let Gardevoir handle it, and with a nice Psychic attack she wins me my sixth gym battle without a scratch on her. A Feather Badge, proof that I am getting better at being a pokemon trainer, and another TM. Time to head out for my seventh gym badge.

It felt like only a short while ago that I saved Professor Birch from that Poochyena and then started on my journey as a pokemon trainer. Now I am back in Petalburg City and ready to face the fifth gym leader. Who happens to be my dad. I know he uses normal type pokemon so if I were to use Hariyama in the fight it would make it an easy victory, but I don’t like the idea of abusing weaknesses and only using only one of my pokemon in battle. Also I caught my sixth and final pokemon to use on my team with the help of those goggles May gave me. I caught a Trapinch in the desert and trained it a little bit before I arrived in Petalburg City. Now I have a full team, and my pokemon are getting more powerful, Kirlia evolved into Gardevoir, and Aron finally evolved into a Lairon. I figure if I use Lairon in the gym my father won’t have a chance because Lairon is a steel and rock type so his defenses are perfect against a normal type who will be using physical attacks. So that being said I will choose to use Lairon as my main pokemon in the Petalburg City Gym. Upon entering I see two different paths that I can take to get to my father. I will probably make my way to him then circle back in the route I neglected earlier to make sure I face every trainer in the Gym. I was very disappointed by the trainers that were in my father’s gym. Hopefully he will be a more challenging opponent then the trainers he has fight in his gym. My dad as I was about to challenge him said that he was ready to battle his son but he would not go easy on me. For his sake he better not go easy on me or I will be not be as proud of my father being a gym leader as I thought. I start by sending out my Lairon, he sends out a Spinda. For my first move I have Lairon use Iron Tail, unfortunately for his Spinda, it never got to use its first move because it was knocked out in one blow. I chose to leave Lairon in as Dad sends out a Slaking, it looks very bored, luckily for me he was very intense though. Lairon was taken down by a Counter attack by Slaking, so now I feel like Hariyama might need to come into battle. After following up on a Fake-Out hit Hariyama uses Vital-Throw and sends Slaking flying into the wall of the gym, and was successfully taken down. Dad sends out a Vigoroth so I send out Trapinch. Vigoroth was to much for Trapinch so I had to send Hariyama to finish off Vigoroth with another Vital-Throw. Last pokemon Dad has was a Linoone. I decided to give Swalot some action in the battle, I decide to use Toxic just incase this pokemon is very hard to take down. It proved a good idea because with his Linoone not feeling well my Swalot could move in for a finishing Body Slam attack. I received a Balance Badge from my dad. I can say that it was an interesting battle, but only because there were a lot of different types of Normal pokemon that kept it interesting. I took the TM he gave me, and kept going.

I finally arrived in Lavaridge Town. It is really hot here, but there is a giant volcano in view of the town at all times so I am not to surprised about the heat of this town. Since I left Mauville City I had a bit of an adventure, I met some people who said they were a part of some Team Magma. They seemed very similar to those Team Aqua guys but got mad when I asked if they were somehow connected with each other. I also got lost on my way here to Lavaridge Town and I somehow made my way to Fallabor Town. There wasn’t much to do there except from battling a few trainers and chatting with the people in town. Aside from a lady named Lanette and a nice man who made me a Blue Flute who’s name I forgot. Fallabor Town was a nice detour but nothing more then that. Outside of the Pokemon Center there was an old lady who was holding what looked like an egg, when I asked her what it was she immediately handed it to me and walked off. Confused I put it in my backpack and went inside of the Lavadridge Gym. Upon entering the gym I begin sweating profusely. This whole gym is like one whole big sauna. Which makes me think that this gym must be inhabited by fire type pokemon. Getting to Flannery was not all to hard. I only faced maybe six trainers overall. I used only Kirlia in the gym when making my way to Flannery. Even though I was a trainer and she was a gym leader, Flannery seemed way more nervous about the battle then I was. She started off by sending out a Numel. Upon sending out my Kirlia after I used Double Team her Numel used Sunny Day, I never thought it could get even more hot in here then it already was but it got hotter. A single Psychic from Kirlia took out her Numel, and it also was enough to take down her Slugma. The Camerupt however used a single overheat and took out my Kirlia, seeing as much battling as he got done today I was amazed he lasted so long. I am proud of my Kirlia. I send out Marshtomp to finish off Camerupt with a Mud Shot attack. Flannery’s last pokemon was a Torkoal. It was a tough fight taking down her Torkoal but with one last fail swoop from Marshtomp’s Tackle attack I got my fourth badge. She handed me a TM and started crying about losing. I didn’t know what to do so I left. After making my way out the gym that egg the old lady gave me started moving and then hatched into a Wynaut. Weird. Speaking of weird May came to me after I left the Pokemon Center to get ready to go back to Petalburg City, she handed me some Go-Googles so that I could make my way through the desert. That should be fun. I was glad she was being nice to me.

Between this post and the next one where we take on our “dad” and the leader of the Petalburg gym we will catch and train our last member of our team, a Trapinch.

So as I was training to face Wattson, the gym leader of Mauville City, and two of my pokemon evolved. My Makuhita evolved into a Hariyama, and my Gulpin evolved into a Swalot. I haven’t used Ralts in my pokemon battles recently because my little friend evolved into a Kirlia and I thought maybe I was over using him so I gave him a sort of vacation from constant battling. I also found a golden Poochyena out in the grass when I was looking for wild pokemon to train my Aron. This looked pretty rare and also pretty small, I figured he was the runt of his litter so I decided to catch him. I named him Lassie. I don’t really think I want to specifically battle with Lassie but I decided he is going to be my Team’s Mascot. Every good team has a mascot right? Also before I got to the Mauville gym I was attacked by a group of mean wild Marill, such cute pokemon are so mean, who knew? They constantly sprayed me with their water gun and I couldn’t say any commands to Lassie but he saved me from them even though I never told him to, after that intense battle he amazingly evolved into a Mightyena and happily licked me on my face, thankfully it was already wet from the Marill. Upon finally arriving at the Mauville Gym, after I had to sit and let my clothes dry off, I decided to choose Aron as the pokemon to tackle this specific gym. He is part ground type so Wattson’s electric type attacks will have no effect on him. Upon entering the gym I was surprised when the first trainer had two Meditite’s. The next trainer had an Electrike and when he hit me with an electric attack I was surprised it affected my Aron as bad as it did but I guess since Aron is also a steel type that must be why it still hurt Aron as much as it did, I have to be more careful from now on. After facing all the trainers in the gym I get ready to face Wattson. Wattson seemed like he had nothing near the electric personality that I pictured he would. As his first pokemon he throws out a Voltorb which looks like a pokeball to me, I send out Kirlia to start the battle. After I set up two Calm Minds I easily take down his Voltorb with a single Confusion. Next he sends out an Electrike, once again one Confusion takes him down. But the Magneton he sends out next fared hard to take down, but Kirlia is stronger then he looks and finished off the Magneton, only to be beaten by his Manectric, which looks like an evolved Electrike. My Marshtomp took out Wattson’s last pokemon with only two hits from his Mud Shot attack. Wattson handed me the Dynamo Badge and another TM. All gym leaders must do that…hmm.

Next post will be when we reach Lavaridge Town. I will have a lot of things to do between now and then so my team will probably look very different by then. Mainly because I will have most of my pokemon in their 2nd or final evolutions.

Slateport City was pretty fun. I battled some more Team Aqua goons, those guys are everywhere. And I caught a new member of my team Gulpin. After me and gulpin met we had a real fun time at some weird guy’s house who put us through a maze of trainers and at the end he gave us a rare candy, I wonder what it tastes like. Anyway I saw May off in the distance on my way to Mauville City and as soon as she sees me the first thing she wants to do is battle me, so I guess that’s what I have to do. May starts by throwing out a Wingull which I am at a disadvantage at with my Makuhita but I make use of Makuhita’s Fake Out attack which sends her Wingull flying low enough to the ground where I can finish it off with a tackle attack. Next she sends out a Slugma, a weird fire looking pokemon I have never seen before, I wonder where she got it. But it was no match from my strong Makuhita and its Vital Throw attack. For her last pokemon she sends out a Grovyle, looks kind of like her Treecko. I send out my new Gulpin to fight it. After one hit from Gulpin’s Sludge attack her Grovyle started looking sick and after it hit me with a Pursuit attack it fainted on its own. After the fight May angrily threw some weird metal detector at me, got on her bike, and left in a huff. Girls confuse me.

Ahh that was a very enjoyable boat ride to Dewford Town. Mr. Briney told me that he would wait for me at the dock to finish any business I had to take care of and that was nice of him to wait. Before I decided to fight the gym leader I went into this cave to train my Mudkip and Ralts. While I was in there I decided to catch an Aron and a Makuhita. Also my Mudkip evolved into a Marshtomp, I was so excited, it was very cool to see my friend getting bigger and stronger. I did a ton of training in the cave to make my newly caught pokemon stronger before going into the Dewford Gym. Now that I am ready to face the gym leader I choose to use Ralts for the entire gym because those fighting types I heard are not very smart so using psychic moves messed with their head and they are easier to beat. Worth a try right. When I walk in the gym it is very dark, must be some kind of feng shui thing…weird. Anyway after finding a flashlight and reading a sign that said to use it to get through the gym I figured I might as well respect their way of doing things. Using Ralts as my main pokemon of choice in the Dewford Gym I easily made my way to the gym leader Brawly. After he explained he designed his gym to remind trainers of the infamous dark cave of Dewford Town he went straight into the battle by first bringing out a Machop. It was cool looking but me and Ralts took him down with only two confusion attacks. His next pokemon a Meditite had no chance either, after our first confusion attack on him he became confused and repeatedly hit himself which helped us a lot since Ralts was not getting hurt. His last pokemon was a Makuhita which I thought was cool since I had a pokemon that a gym leader also had, but Ralts didn’t seem to care because he made Makuhita faint with one powerful Confusion attack. Brawly handed me Knuckle Badge and another TM. This Dewford Town taught me that things are getting more challenging on my journey but also more fun. Also I remember meting a strange guy named Steven when I was training in the cave, he was a nice guy.

So there are a lot of story driven things to do in Slateport City but I will start the next post when we are leaving Slateport since you will be meeting May again and fighting her.
